This unique 12-month program offers friendly, outgoing,
hospitality-oriented individuals from Norway the opportunity to represent the
cultures and traditions of their country while interacting with the Guests from
all over the world. Participants hired as Cultural Representatives will work in
the Norway Pavilion at Epcot®.
Epcot opened at the Walt Disney World®
Resort on October 1, 1982. As part of Epcot, World Showcase has become
"a community of nations; the only permanent international exposition of its
kind, focusing on the culture, traditions, tourism and accomplishments of
people around the world." This community of nations is represented by the
United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, Italy, Germany, China, Norway, Mexico,
the United States of America and Canada.
Entering the Norway Pavilion, Guests are drawn through a
picturesque town square toward the majesty of the Norwegian Castle. The
architecture of the shops and restaurants represents a variety of styles found
in Norwegian towns and cities such as Setesdahl. In The Puffins Roost and The
Fjording, Guests admire fine products of Norway, from traditional rose
paintings to knit sweaters and sportswear. Outside the shops, there is a cart
selling popular souvenirs representing all of Scandinavia.
Beside the grandeur of a historical stave church, the
delicious smells from the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe invite Guests in to sample
Scandinavian pastries. Across the street in the medieval banquet hall is
Restaurant Akershus where Guests enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with their
favorite Disney Princess.
Through the heart of the Castle runs 'Maelstrom,' a
thrilling attracting in which Guests ride a Viking ship that takes them through
the magical history of Norway. Visitors disembark from their journey at a small
fishing village, reminiscent of those found on Norway's southern coast. The
final stop is a short film tour of the "Land of the Midnight Sun" as it is
today.
