This unique 12-month program offers friendly, outgoing,
hospitality-oriented individuals from the many diverse states of Germany the
opportunity to represent the cultures and traditions of their country while
interacting with Guests from all over the world. Participants hired as Cultural
Representatives will work in the Epcot® Germany
Pavilion.
Epcot® opened at the Walt Disney
World® Resort on October 1, 1982. As part of
Epcot®, World Showcase has become "a community of
nations; the only permanent international exposition of its kind, focusing on
the culture, traditions, tourism and accomplishments of people around the
world." This community of nations is represented by the United Kingdom, France,
Morocco, Japan, Italy, Germany, China, Norway, Mexico, the United States of
America and Canada.
The moment Guests enter the Germany Pavilion, they view
the majestic castle and hear the melodic carillon ring out a lilting tune.
Guests are then transported to the very heart of Bavaria as outdoor carts sell
warm pretzels and themed merchandise along the World Showcase Promenade. Inside
the covered terrace of the Sommerfest, Guests sample Beck's®
beer, sandwiches, sauerkraut and desserts. Throughout the merchandise shops,
Guests find the foods and crafts of Germany including Hummel®
figurines, full-lead crystal and hand-blown glass-sculpture, giftware, wines,
chocolate and teddy bears.
The "village within a village" of the Biergarten is the
main attraction of the pavilion. The four-level, 350-seat Biergarten is the
largest restaurant at Epcot®. Regular entertainment in
the Biergarten courtyard creates interaction between the Guests, the band and
the service staff. Proudly displayed on the walls are the flags of each German
state. The Biergarten, like the Oktoberfest that inspired it, unites all Guests
in celebration.
